The range of diamonds available in Dubai, tax-free, is incredible. Enjoy!
Here are some things to know about a girl’s best friend in Dubai:
Quality
You might be astounded by the range of quality diamonds available in Dubai, many of which come from India and South Africa. It’s a great place to shop for a diamond, but do so carefully.
Buy from a reputable jeweler, who will give you a certificate with details about the diamond (cut, color, clarity, carat), including where it was mined. You’ll find some suggestions about reputable jewelers below.
Price
Buy two stunning diamonds for the price of one.
Some have found that diamonds are as much as 50 per cent cheaper in Dubai compared to elsewhere. This might be in part because they have not had to travel so far to get there.
Haggle
Some sellers will expect you to haggle. It’s a normal part of buying and selling diamonds in Dubai. As a rule of thumb, aim for around ¾ of the asking price and work from there.
To find great quality diamonds, check out:
Gold Souk of Dubai
The Gold Souk of Dubai is worth visiting, even if you’re not looking for diamonds. As the name suggests, the emphasis is on gold, but you will see diamonds too. Beware, however, that prices are often inflated. And remember, they are expecting you to haggle.
Dubai Gold and Diamond Park
You’ll find many independent retailers selling diamonds here. Again, haggle on your quoted price and enjoy the authentic experience as well as the diamonds.
The Dubai Mall
You’ll find massive variety in the Dubai Mall, both in quality and price. High-end brands, such as Cartier and De Beers, will be easy to spot, but look out for smaller, traditional stores too. Shop around before you commit.
