Making a Splash! – Water Sports in Dubai

Feb162017

With over 50 kilometers of beautiful coastline, it’s no surprise that the water sports industry in Dubai has expanded dramatically. Having fun on, under, or over the water has become phenomenally popular in Dubai over the years. With its sunny climate and warm waters, Dubai offers water activities that can provide an adrenaline rush or relaxation.

Our Amazon picks for you:

Jet skis are very popular in Dubai. These small, fast craft can seat up to two people and are an excellent way to explore the coastline.

Being pulled by a speedboat is another great way of getting around. Besides traditional water-skiing, you’ll also find parasailing. Here you’re still towed, but not on the surface of the water. Attached to a parachute, you soar over the sea. Parasailing is one of the ultimate thrill rides you can enjoy off the Dubai coast.

Ditch the speedboat and use the parachute as a kite, while standing on a surfboard and controlling your movements using flying lines. With kite surfing you can perform tricks and stunts, guided by an instructor.

Why not try flyboarding? Here you strap on a jet-powered flyboard, hovering and soaring above the sea, reaching heights of up to 45m. Again, there’s a certified instructor to guide you in throttle control and steering, enabling you to perform a variety of tricks.

With wakeboarding, tubing, and paddleboarding too, there’s plenty for the whole family to do on the water.

If you prefer going underwater, there are numerous artificial reefs and wrecks to explore while scuba diving. Swim among the thousands of different species of colorful aquatic life native to the Persian Gulf. Or go cage snorkeling and get up close and personal with sharks, rays, and giant grouper.

Whichever water sports and activities appeal to you, Dubai has all the facilities you need to have an unforgettable time on the Gulf.
